This award recognises excellence in live musical performance and honours an act that demonstrates outstanding musicianship, technical proficiency and artistic execution during the eligibility period.

The award celebrates live performances across different formats, including solo artists, duos, groups and ensembles, that demonstrate excellence in musical delivery, arrangement, stage execution and live production quality.

Eligibility Requirements:
  • Entries are open to solo artists, duos, groups and ensembles.
  • The act must perform originally composed music. Covers, adaptations or reinterpretations of previously composed works are not eligible.
  • Artists must submit an Electronic Press Kit (EPK) and evidence of at least two qualifying live performances during the eligibility period.
  • Each entry must include high-quality video recordings of the qualifying live performances. The recordings must clearly capture the overall performance and enable the Adjudication Committee to assess the musical, technical, and artistic merits of the act.
  • Supporting evidence of the performances may include event programmes, posters, promotional material, contracts, venue confirmations, ticketing records, media coverage, photographs, or any other documentation accepted by the Adjudication Committee.
  • The Adjudication Committee reserves the right to request additional evidence to verify the authenticity of any submitted live performance.

Recognition of the Act:
  • Where the live performance is presented under the name of a solo artist, the award shall be presented to the solo artist.
  • Where the performance is presented under the name of a duo, group, band, choir, ensemble, orchestra, or other recognised performing entity, the award shall be presented to that collective Act.
  • Accompanying musicians, session musicians, backing vocalists, musical directors, conductors, or technical personnel shall not be recognised as separate recipients of the award unless they form part of the officially credited performing Act.
  • The official billing, promotional material, ticketing information, and performance credits may be used by the Adjudication Committee to determine the identity of the recognised Act.

Criteria:
  • Live vocal and/or instrumental performance proficiency
  • Musical accuracy, timing and ensemble coordination
  • Arrangement, interpretation, and execution of original material
  • Stage production quality, including sound, lighting and technical presentation
  • Overall technical and artistic execution of the live performance
